The Biggest Behdeinkhlam festival conclude
The biggest Behdeinkhlam festival in Jaintia Hills celebrated annually by Sein Raij Tuber, which is the largest of all the Sein Raij in Jaintia Hills, concluded at Tuberkmai Shnong village on Sunday (24.7.2011).
The festival witnessed a colorful display of about 61 Rots (paper monuments) at the Biar, a sacred muddy pool, and thousands of spectators from various parts of the district and outside the state gathered to witness the celebration held at the Biar.

Members of the Sein Raij Tuber representing different localities of over 26 villages, both young and old were seen dancing to drums beats and other traditional musical instruments while carrying their respective rots to the main venue.

Behdieñkhlam The Festival of the Pnar
Behdieñkhlam is the most important and the biggest festival of the Pnars of Jaintia hills District. It is the festival paying obeisance to Almighty God the Creator to bless people with good health and prosperity. The term beh-dieñ-khlam comprises of three words in a Pnar parlance, ‘Beh’ literarily means to chase or to rid away and ‘dieñ’ means wood or log and ‘khlam’ means plague, epidemic or pestilence. Behdieñkhlam literarily means the festival to rid away plague.
